Yak shaving
Dear reader,
I don't know what compels me to create things that have already been created by people smarter than me, harder at work than me and put much more care in their work me. I suppose it's because by creating my own tools, I tell myself that I am honing my craft; tools that end up creating this page for example. There's an insatiable itch in me to create tools that I can use; I can't explain it, I can't escape it but I know before I go to bed, I'll probably end up wrestling with the computer.
If I could fight this itch, I would probably read a book or maybe I would play a video game, or maybe even just listen to music. But also it's very peaceful to build something step by step, one by one, brick by brick. I usually just end up putting on a classical music playlist and keep working on whatever pointless thing I have been working on that also already exists. Maybe this is my cosy activity. In the end, I get sucked in enough that I go bed too late, and end up waking up groggy and barely rested, but I guess... such is the life on an engineer.
Sincerely,
Arijit Dasgupta
